Stories Brought to Life

So many of authors dream to have their work brought to life on the *big screen*.  They want their passion to be seen and enjoyed by as many as possible.  By turning books into television shows, a lower cost option than a movie, authors can fulfill their dreams.  I love watching a book being *read* to me on the television screen, seeing how the director and (possibly) the author wanted the book to look.  Here are nine novel series that have been turned into television series.

Grimm Fairytales - loosely turned into the show Grimm (also based on several other novels).

Pretty Little Liars - turned into the popular show Pretty Little Liars.

A Game of Thrones - turned into the very very popular scifi show on HBO called Game of Thrones.

Rizzoli & Isles Novels - made into a CBS crime show, with the name Rizzoli & Isles.

Sookie Stachouse Novels (Southern Vampire Series) - turned into the most popular HBO vampire series, TrueBlood.

Winnie The Pooh: Adventures in 100 Acre Wood - only the cutest show ever! Winnie The Pooh: Hundred Acre Wood and Winnie The Pooh are two very popular children shows on Disney.

Goosebumps Series - a show from the 90s that every kid loved to be scared of; Goosebumps aired on Nickelodeon in the afternoons.

The Little House on the Prairie Series - created in the 70s, this was a very popular series that everyone cherished titled Little House on the Prarie (often called Little House).

Anne of Green Gables - aired in 1985, this show only lasted a few episodes but was loved by those who watched it.
There are sooo many books getting turned into television shows now, it's exciting!  Recently, Diana Gabaldon announced that Outlander will be turning into a television series!  I'm extremely excited to see how it turns out, especially because Diana has been hired as a creative director!  What books turned to TV show do you like the most?  I'm always looking for something new to watch on Netflix!  Happy Reading!

(Just an FYI...I'm not including any pictures of the shows so I don't violate any copyright laws.  Just click the book titles to be taken to the IMDB or Wiki page each show.  All information was found on IMDB or the show's Wiki.)
